About Book ~ The Reviews

“I settled down one evening with a glass of sparkling cider and a few slices of Gruyere anticipating a few hours of pleasant anecdotes written by a long time friend.  However, I should have known, this was Judy.  I discovered I had to take a deep breath and hold on for the ride.

The stories of her travels through Europe and the Middle East gently describe the changes in her life, while at the same time artfully painting for us the places and peoples we shall never see.  Finally, seeing how events of her life in Canada helped her develop a renewed, deep love of her God, in parallel with discovery of her love for Alain, make us rejoice with her.

This is a wonderfully honest chronicle of her rediscovery, conviction and acceptance of the Lord she had put on the shelf.  It is well written and engaging, hard to put down.”

“I just finished reading the manuscript. It is a wonderful narrative, well-written and beckoning the reader on to the end.

Fascinating, moving, and inspiring.  The story of God’s wandering children and of a God who will not let them rest until they return home.

…. I hope the book will be the means of leading more of God’s children back to Him.”

“Significant Journey takes the reader on a bold and, at times, dangerous ride ranging from Germany to Afghanistan to the wilds of Canada in the early 1970’s.  Drive through the Middle East with Judy & Alain as they face physical, political, and spiritual challenges.  Surviving freezing weather inside their non-insulated VW van, being shot at by Turkish soldiers, and feeling the gentle nudge of God as they travel through the lands described in the Bible are only a few of the adventures they will face as Judy searches for something she doesn’t know she’s looking for.  Finally, in the wilds of Canada, Judy and Alain discover what they’ve been missing all along.

Following  Judy’s  journey had me, at times, biting my nails, laughing hysterically and cheering excitedly as I raced through the miles of her story.”

“In a word, this is a story of God’s constant pursuing of one woman’s heart.  She ignored Him, felt she could live without Him, but in the end she found Him.  Throughout this adventurous story we see glimpses of God, a God who doesn’t leave our side. From the exotic caravans of Afghanistan to the wilds of the British Columbia wilderness, God watches over the author.  This story is full of adventure, humor, and insight: it is the story of my mother.”

It’s the early 1970’s & we’re treated to an exciting journey around Europe, the exotic lands of the Middle East, all the way to Afghanistan in a ’58 VW van, the ‘Belly Button Bomb.’ The odyssey continues with the further intrepid adventures & trials of homesteading in the wilds of British Columbia. I roared with laughter at the border crossing predicament.

This is a fascinating & well-written memoir that ultimately delivers what many seek…hope & inspiration.

I hope the author holds-out for a good deal on the ‘movie-rights’ to ‘Significant Journey’.

Fasten your seat belts…This is a page-turner & quite a ride!
